A Colorful Union!

March 15, 2012

It has been a busy week for us at Studio EM this week, but as it is coming to an end we are looking to cut loose and unwind a bit with our Thursday fun feature project. This week’s project comes all the way from Cape Town, South Africa.

Designed by Rafael de Cárdenas the Unknown Union store is a stark contrast to contemporary menswear stores, dark mahogany units, or moody walls and ceilings are nowhere to be seen, this project is a much more colorful affair.  We looked at this store and we first thought, wow, that surely brightens up anyone’s day.

For us we love the visual merchandising and the array of multi colored features included in the store, the display units are very creative in the sense that they are not just solid bold colors but a variance of gradient colors, again something just that wee bit more unique. I am also a fan of the ceiling lighting features, normally exposed florescent light fittings are not my thing but in this store, perhaps because of the colored units, the lighting features really do add an extra dimension to the design.  Check out the images below and I hope this project brightens up your week.
