A New Look For Cupcakes!
Don’t you just love it when a project comes around that really goes against the grain or attempts to buck the trend? I for one sure do, there was a time last year I was “so over” the flowery, bright, cute and pretty cupcake store design, it was everywhere I looked. Pink and cream, yellow and blue, cute little birds, big ribbons and large sprinkles of fairy dust. The concept was done to death and all that it did for me was to make me resent cupcakes, which is not a good thing as I am a huge cupcake lover.
With that in mind you can see why when I saw today’s feature project that I stood up and took notice. Les Bébés Cupcakery was designed by J.C. Architecture and is based in Taipei. What I initially loved about the design was that it is as far removed from the cookie cutter design I mentioned earlier as you can get. The design is very clean and minimal but not without character or attitude. The stunning detailing of the counter and the subdued yet still optimistic color palette teamed with the simple yet striking wall features and floating window feature are all elements that stand out to me.
I’m not sure what it is but when I look at this store I can’t help but feel that it is a more sophisticated offering which for some reason allows me to think that it has greater integrity or higher end properties, funny how design works, eh? Check out the images below to see if this is the kind of cupcakery that will float your boat, if not then there is a good chance I may have upset you in my opening, if I have then I am sorry, let’s have a cupcake and make up 🙂
