A Thick Crust Of Design!
Earlier in the week we covered a pizzeria that delivered on many of our favorite element in interior design, exposed brick, rustic interiors, industrial touches and explosions of color and all the goodies that get our design buds tingling. As luck would have it we have come across another project that delivers elements similar to Los Sopranos but in a different kind of way with a differing approach and coincidentally it too is a pizzeria.
As it is Thursday and this project is pretty funky and fresh, Dough Pizzeria is this week’s Thursday funky fresh fun feature project. Based in Perth and designed by Mobilia this pizzeria is another example of an awesome pizza restaurant that steers clear of the clichéd, tired and stereotypical theme that we despise so much, there isn’t a red & white checked table cloth in sight or a single garlic bulb and thankfully no statue of Luigi lurking in any of the corners.
For us our favorite elements of this project are the lighting features, the turquoise pendant lights work really well with the colored furniture, I imagine that the light planning and the simplicity of the features create an awesome mood in the evening time. I could harp on about the rustic nature of the exposed brick the concrete flooring for lines and lines, like I have in each of our other industrially rustic project features, but you get the picture, what helps to set off these features is the raw perforated metal wall feature and the quirky vintage pieces of art that adorn the walls.
The art and graphics pay tribute to the Italian heritage of the pizzeria and for me this way of doing it is so much cooler that the old fashioned clichés we mentioned earlier. The art gives this space a real urban feel, like a street corner in little Italy where posters have been pasted on the walls of coming attractions in the local theatre, I love this idea. The most stand out element has to be the Dough logo and typography on the wall, this just looks very sexy and adds an extra dimension to the overall design. Check out the images below and see why Dough Pizzeria is worthy of our Thursday Funky Fun Fresh project title.
