An Office I Could Camp In All Day Long!
Camper is a brand that has featured quite a bit on this blog for the reason that pretty much everything they touch in the design world turns into interior design gold, their stores are all unique no matter where in the world and each time a new one opens we wait with excitement and eager anticipation to see what delights Camper will bring us this time.
With this in mind you can imagine how excited we were when we came across Camper’s new office and showroom in Shanghai on designboom. The office / showroom was designed by neri & hu and true to Camper form it is nothing short of just being simply awesome.
Favourite stand out elements for me (excepting the whole design) would be the structure within a structure design element that sets this project apart from a textural point of view, it creates depth and layers within the design that guides the eye across all of the different zones within the grand design.
Aesthetically the beams are stunning but from an aesthetic viewpoint the showroom aspect of this project pips the beams, I love how the shoes are displayed on the old wood frames and how this brings a real rustic edge to the design especially when coupled with the exposed brickwork.
Lastly and by no means is it the last thing I love about the design (but I have said enough) but in this article the last piece of design loving I want to point out is the exterior which for me as an interior architect is probably quite surprising. What I enjoy about the exterior is how wonderfully subdued and subtle it is, it’s so very plain and unassuming which is just so awesome and wicked as it sets you up for the stunning complexities and wonders in the interior, it balances out the project perfectly and allows for the interior to have a much more striking impact.
I’ve said enough and yet I have only scratched the surface but I could talk about this project for hours in end. The best thing at this point is for me to let you enjoy the wonderful images below credited to Shen Zhonghai and Dirk Weiblen and to make up your own mind as to what elements you love, enjoy 🙂
