And So The Story Unfolds!
One of the most unfortunate things about the world of retail over the last few years is the decline of the bookstore. I absolutely love bookstores, I could get lost for hours and hours at end in them. Just give me a pot of tea (or 3) and a good book and I will be set for the day. I suppose the decline has a lot to do with modern advancements such as e-readers and e-books but apart from nostalgic reasons I lament the decline of the bookstore as it means super awesome projects like today’s feature are slowly becoming a rare commodity.
Cleverly named, The Story Unfolds is a bookstore that allows customers to publish and sell their own books right at the store, a unique concept that would be a wonderful solution to so many unpublished authors. The interior design and wicked branding was done by Singapore based designer Leong Huang Zi. The most appealing thing to me about the store design is the obvious design feature of the geometric chip wood ceiling and floor but it is the lighting fixtures and fittings that are the real hero of this design and when you couple it with the clever branding you get a real all-rounder of a project and a project that only further shows how much of a shame it is that bookstores are becoming so rare.
