When surfing through the backend of our blog last night I realized that it has been quite a while since we did a product feature, today is the day we rectify it and today we have a real cracker from the world of lighting design. We came across this awesome lighting feature on Behance from designers Miriam Aust & Sebastian Amelung, the feature can be found here.
The light fitting is called Like Paper and is described by the designers below:-
What seems to be folded paper is made out of slewed concrete. The property of concrete, to precisely display the surface of the utilized formwork, is taken to advantage. As well as wood shapes the facade of bare concrete buildings, in this case paper empathizes with this part. Although the manufacturing follows certain paper patterns, the completed shades develop individuality through own edges, kinks and creases.
As you can see from the images below this product would look great in a multitude of projects, from funky retail to bohemian cafes to a high end restaurant concept all the way down to a corporate office for the design savvy and conscious. What I love is the versatility of the product as well as the durability it has having been made from the slewed concrete. Check out the cool images below for an in-depth look at “Like Paper “and the creative process.
