Making Cupcakes Attractive Again!

September 29, 2013

Breaking the mould, that’s what we are all about at Studio EM, challenging convention, fighting trends and enabling people to think differently about projects. That’s what we do and what we love to see around the design world, take today’s feature project as a prime example. Over the last few years we have seen an explosion of ice cream and cupcake stores, whilst many of them have been awesome a lot of them have been so same same. So many of them have been icky, cute, princess’y and in some respects hurl worthy in their cuteness.

Once Upon A Cream is an ice cream and cupcake store that certainly has none of these nausea inducing features. Designed by MADA Design Factory the store based outside Bangkok in Thailand is a real winner as far as fresh design that breaks the mould goes. I love how the design is based around a factory concept, the cogs that go into making the products have been well represented in the design but for me the real highlight in this design is the high level of detailing in the furniture and fittings, check out the images below to see what I mean, the tables, the lights, the counter, the menu board and the storefront, all designed with extreme attention to detail and boy has it paid off, enjoy! 🙂
